About

Dr.LokanathTripathy currently serving as Professor & Head  School of Electrical Sciences,  Odisha University of Technology and Research ( Formerly College of Engineering & Technology), Bhubaneswar from 2018. He has completed his PhD from IIT Bhubaneswar in Power System Protection in the year 2014 and M.Tech from IISc Bangalore in Computer Aided Power System Analysis in the year 2005 and B.Tech from IGIT, Sarang in the year 1993.He has 25 years of teaching experience in various leading technical Institutes at undergraduate and post graduate level and 4 years of Industry experiences in reputed Organization and public sector  of Govt. of India. He has received the Best Engineer Award from Petrofils Cooperatives Limited ( A Join Venture of Government of India and Cooperatives), Ankleswar, Gujarat in the year 1997 and the Prestigious POSOCO-2016 Award for Doctoral Category from Power System Operation Corporation, Government of India. He is an executive member of IEEE, Life member of ISTE New Delhi and fellow of Institute of Engineers.

He has published more than 55 research papers in various referred International and Indian Journals and Conferences and also guided 20 M.Tech students and two PhD Students. Four PhD students are now continuing their PhD work under his active guidance. His research interests include Digital Protection of Power System, Transmission Line Protection, FACTs Devices, Smart Grids and Digital Signal Processing application to Power System Protection.

 

He is a regular reviewer of many international journals including IEEE, IET and Elsevier Science. He has conducted many Faculty Development Program sponsored by AICTE.  Professor Tripathy has awarded one  AICTE sponsored RPS project( File No.8-11/RIFD/RPS/POLICY-1/2016-17 dated 02-08-2017, Amount : Rs 25 Lakh, entitled  “Detection, classification and location of faults in transmission line embeded with shunt compensated facts devices by application of advanced signal processing techniques”. He was also awarded with FIST project of Science & Technology Department,  Government of India as Principal Investigator ( Sanction Order No : SR/FST/College-/2019/581,  dated 7-01-2020, Amount sanctioned :68 Lakhs).  

 

 Professor Tripathy  has Worked as expert member of the selection committee for recruitment of Technical Assistant  in Institute of Mineral & Material Technology(IMMT,CSIR), Bhubaneswar ,  Reviewer in Poster Session of Odisha Research Conclave-2021 held Convocation Centre of Utkal University , Odisha  also Worked as expert member of the selection committee for recruitment of Assistant Executive Engineer(Electrical) at Odisha Public Service Commission(OPSC), Cuttack, Odisha  and  Doctoral Scrutiny Member BPUT, Rourkela, Odisha
